Salt air country
Why batteries die faster in Kardinya
Salt air is the reason. Airborne salt settles on terminals and works into case seals, and the corrosion it starts raises resistance at exactly the point where the battery has to deliver a few hundred amps. The same battery that runs five years inland can be down on cranking amps in three within a few streets of the water.
Anything parked outside near the coast here shows it, and boats show it first.
The fix is not a bigger battery, it's a sealed one. We steer Kardinya customers to AGM for vehicles that live outdoors, dual-purpose or proper deep-cycle for boats, and we clean and grease terminals as part of the fit rather than charging for it separately.

Battery replacement in Kardinya
Kardinya sits in the fork between South Street and North Lake Road, close enough to the coast that the sea breeze reaches it and far enough inland that most people don't think about salt. It shows up anyway on cars that live in a driveway rather than a garage — corroded terminals well before the battery itself is worn out.
So we clean and grease terminals as part of the fit rather than as an extra, and favour sealed AGM for anything parked outside. Between Kardinya Park and two schools, the driving here is short and local, which is the other half of why batteries in this suburb rarely reach the years printed on the label.

Kardinya FAQ
Common Kardinya questions
Do you deliver batteries to Kardinya?
Yes. Kardinya is 20.4km from our Maddington warehouse — about 20 minutes via Roe Highway and South Street. There's a small delivery fee outside our three 5km free zones (Canning Vale, Maddington and Fremantle), or you can collect from the counter and pay the straight warehouse price. Call 08 9451 4048 for the exact figure.
How much is a car battery in Kardinya?
It depends on the spec — a small sedan and a European AGM are a long way apart. Because we buy factory-direct there's no retail markup in the middle. Call 08 9451 4048 with your rego and you'll get a fixed number, not a range.
How do I get to your warehouse from Kardinya?
Unit 11/95-97 Kelvin Road, Maddington, WA 6109 — about 20 minutes from Kardinya, via Roe Highway and South Street, about 20.4km. Free customer parking on site. Walk in any time we're open, get the battery and the alternator tested free, and have it fitted while you wait.
Are you open after hours if I'm stuck in Kardinya?
Open 24/7 — every day of the year — call 08 9451 4048 day or night. If you're stranded in Kardinya we'll give you a straight ETA rather than a "sometime today", and we'll come to the car.
Do you cover all of the City of Melville?
Yes. Kardinya is one of the City of Melville suburbs we run to, and we deliver across the whole council area — residential, trade and fleet. If you're on the boundary and not sure, call 08 9451 4048 with the street and we'll tell you straight away whether you're inside a free-delivery zone.
What happens to my old battery?
We take it away and recycle it, free, whether we delivered to Kardinya or you walked into the warehouse. Lead-acid is close to fully recyclable and it should never go in a bin — if you've got an old one sitting in the shed, bring it in with you and we'll take that too.
